     A few years back, there was a movie entitled “Demetrius and the Gladiators”.  This was the sequel to the great flick “The Robe”.  Both films were set during the time of Rome’s height in power and rulership—complete with a host of pagan gods and immorality (sounds like today, don’t it?).  Demetrius—the central character—in his Christian journey, turned his back on God and got lost in the lust of the times.  However, there were those among the ‘Christian Underground’ who made their presence known…in some unlikely places who helped to bring Demetrius back to his senses, caused him to repent, and follow the Christ whom he viewed dying on the cross.

     Of course, thanks to the hatred of Christ and Christians in these last days, more and more of BOTH films have been ‘edited’ for the sake of time—meaning segments of the films that dealt with the underpinnings of the Christian faith wound up ‘erased’.  Further, every time that one watches both flicks (if they are familiar with the originals) they are aware of ‘missing out’ on some great dialogue and spiritual truth—even in the VHS and DVD versions.

     Considering what we have witnessed in American society over the past several decades, it is not that hard for some Christians to want to ‘surrender’ to the darkness and seeming hopelessness of our times.  Headline hysteria has become the bread of some saints.  Compromise has become the byword of many (formerly) upright denominations.  Further, it is NOT that unusual for some who ‘claim’ the name of Christian to turn their backs on God and head to the enemy camp for that ‘talent of gold’ (as did Achan in the Book of Joshua) or for thirty pieces of silver (as did Judas Iscariot who walked with Jesus for his entire 3.5-year earthly ministry). 

     However, we must keep in mind that bible prophecy is authored by Jesus Christ—the spirit of prophecy.  Events WILL unfold in the way in which He has outlined in the KJV Bible.

     Yes, prayer WILL steady the saint and lead to action from heaven to earth.  Yes, consistent KJV Bible study, reading and meditation will give the saint a clear roadmap of the times.  However, we are NOT exempt from what will likely come from those who are NOT friends of Christ nor his church.  The hostility towards saints will continue to increase.  We who believe DO need wisdom from above to recognize how to wisely navigate our times and to look for those Christians in unlikely places who will help us move from one station to the next on the Christian Underground Railroad.

     That’s right—I said the Christian Underground Railroad.

     During slavery times, those who were willing to make a break for freedom sought out those sympathetic and helpful to their plight.  Those who were willing—at great personal risk to help slaves escape were known as ‘Conductors’ on the Underground Railroad.  Their job was to help escapees to navigate from ‘Egypt’ to the ‘promised land’ of freedom.

     A Conductor was a Christian man or woman who were mission focused, and results oriented.

     They had little time for play because of the stakes that were involved.

     Some Conductors were located DEEP in enemy territory, working in plain sight to help those who were seeking freedom to navigate their way from depot to depot; city to city and station to station—always by word of mouth.  All involved in the underground were helping in the name of freedom because THEY had tasted the freedom that they anxiously and at great personal risk wanted others to experience.

     For the Christian, we have experienced such freedom—coming from darkness to light thanks to Jesus Christ.  Our main Conductor is the Holy Spirit.  The ‘talking book’ is the KJV Bible.  Those veteran saints who are secure in their Christian walk and calling (soul winners) are the deputized Conductors through the underground maze to freedom.  It should be noted that the Lord will send along the right person, at the right time, to supply hope, encouragement, and strength for one to make their way to freedom in Christ Jesus over the rampant sin of this old world.

     Why this message and why now?  Simple.  The hostility of government, entertainment, the MSM, sports, education and other venues used by the people of God are getting more and more hostile towards us—just like the days portrayed in “The Robe” and “Demetrius and the Gladiators”.  More and more people want the righteous to ‘subsidize’ their sin ‘in the name of tolerance’, but are unwilling to listen to “Thus saith the Lord”. 

     In short, the world wants our money and time, but NOT the gospel message.

    The world wants to dictate ‘what’ groups are worthy for our tax dollars, ‘what’ agencies can best use our sweat and volunteer equity, and ‘what’ parents need to do to ‘appease’ their local school systems quest for more control over their children.

     Pastor Jim Garlow made a very eye-opening presentation at one of the ‘Lamb and Lion’ prophecy conferences a few years back.  Garlow charted the rise—and fall—of Christianity in America.  Starting in 1968—the beginning of the end of the ‘Hippie/Woodstock’ rebellion—there have been great strides in sin in our society…despite some ‘outbreaks’ of revival and awakening in our land because of God’s mercy.  Feminism, Abortion on demand, Environmentalism, etc. have replaced the fear of the Lord, His word, and His church.

     The rest—shall I say—is plain, visible history.

     God’s hand is still active, but His prophetic clock is ticking.  The time for trial and persecution of the saints is beginning to manifest.  Satan and his worldly organizations continue to expand.  The two well-known religious bodies that have a form of their own godliness—Roman Catholicism and Islam—have made great worldwide strides in 2022 and show no signs of letting up in the future.  BOTH have spent millions buying into the mainstream while pleading poverty to their followers.  Meanwhile, here in the states, political corruption, wokeism, socialism and communism have exalted and ENSHRINED themselves OVER the righteous!  Institutions that used to come to the defense of the saints are coming to the defense of the wicked, while maintaining an ‘air’ of ‘religious respectability’ to keep the cash registers open and flowing.

     In the Book of Proverbs, there are two verses that are exactly the same in composition.  They are 22:3 and 27:12 (KJV).  When God has something in His word once, that should be enough to warn the saint.  When it is documented twice—or more--the saint needs to wake up, and wise up!  Here it is: “A prudent man foreseeth the evil and hideth himself; but the simple pass on, and are punished.”

     This Christian Underground Railroad is boarding.  Best get on board while there is still time.  We don’t know when the Lord will be pulling His train out of the station, for the Rapture of God’s church can happen at any time (I Thes. 4; I Cor. 15; Rev. 1).  The wise saint will make sure to be well versed in Bible Prophecy and sharpen their evangelism skills in order to inform others so they can book passage to freedom—before time runs out!
