Why Are We Here?

Have you ever taken time to just reflect on God and His everlasting mercy?  Many times our God consciousness is tied in with our prayers.  We become aware of His personage through the anticipation that God hears our petitions and will act according to His will and our Faith.  Instead of accompanying our prayers with adoration, we pray with hopeful expectation that we will receive the desires of our heart.  Our emphasis is more on receiving than perceiving who He is.  I am becoming more and more conscious of His personage than I am in the filling of my “prayer chest.”  The more I dwell on God, the more insignificant I become in my own eyes.  Arriving at that destination, I find myself lifted beyond my own capacities into a relationship with God that far outreaches my mental ability.   The second chapter of Hebrews lifts us beyond our finite minds and introduces us to the infinite being of our Creator. 

Have you ever wondered why God created man?  What is the purpose of our existence?   As we enter the water of His Word with Jesus as our “life preserver,” let us see what the role of man is in God’s plan for this sphere called earth.  “What is man that thou art mindful of him?” (Hebrews 2:6a)  As the question is rhetorically given, the answer descends with the sound of authority that man was crowned with glory and honor…setting him “over the works of thy hands.”  God put all things under man’s control.  Man had the responsibility to oversee and to have dominion over everything that God created on this earth.  The only thing that man had no authoritative power over was death. (Hebrews 2:8)  According to Scripture we see Jesus who “was made a little lower than angels for the suffering of death.”  Jesus as man was crowned with glory and honor becoming the example of God’s Grace by tasting death for every man. (Hebrews 2:9) 

Jesus became the leader (captain) of God’s creation through the things He suffered.  Through the cross and His resurrection, He sanctified those who accepted God’s plan.  He became so unified with the Believer that both the Sanctifier and Sanctified became one. (Hebrews 2:10, 11) 

Through the unification of the Believer and the “Believed”, Jesus understood the trials and tests that man would go through.  After His Ascension Jesus became a “high priest” to the Believer.  Knowing the challenges of man, which He Himself experienced, Jesus was and is able to secure every Believer that would put their trust in Him. (Hebrews 2:14-18)

Man was placed on this earth to establish and solidify God’s creations.  Man has a responsibility to oversee what God has spoken into existence.  Adam and Eve were to be the prototype of an earthly representation of Heaven.  They were to take care of the Garden they were placed in, as well as naming the animals that were paraded before Adam.  By failing to believe God’s Word, God’s plan for an earthly heaven was scuttled.  From that point on, Satan put his plan into action.  Everything that God planned for man to carry out, Satan vowed to destroy. 

Today, the “Sanctified” have vacated their calling and have become reactionaries instead of initiators.  God has placed us on this earth to fulfill “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done.”  When are Believers going to take authority over these things of earth and establish what God has commissioned us to oversee!  Our Captain and High Priest awaits our response.
