Not only was the master teacher good for his students, but the students were also good for the master teacher. For when they asked questions like, "what do you mean by that?" they were compelling him to clarify his point or develop his thought a little further, which he welcomed. They were, in a certain sense, "holding his feet to the fire" lest he be guilty of speaking empty or meaningless words. Sometimes the master teacher might think to himself, "I'm not entirely sure of what I mean by what I just said, but I know it is important and worth saying, nonetheless. Let's pursue the full meaning of it together..... and if we find that fullness of meaning, let's make sure we share it with others"
