When it comes to communing with the One who is both omniscient and infinite, it helps to have the Holy Spirit given ability to think three or four thoughts at once, or to think in three or four directions at once, even as jazz saxophonist John Coltrane once said that he learned over time to play three or four notes simultaneously.  And in those moments of communion, it's not so much what God says to us, though it is surely that, but also the excited expectant sense that He is about say something important and life changing to us. So we live by what God says, and we thrive in and on those anticipatory moments immediately preceding what God says, feeling all along that we have all the time and eternity in the world.
