Unless the Lord builds the house,
Those who build labor in vain;
In harmony with a spouse,
Will have everything to gain.

If the Lord guards the city,
The guard stays awake in vain;
Because the Lord takes pity,
Of the trauma causing pain.

It is vain to rise early,
And in going late to rest;
Cannot be sincerely,
Able to perform his best.

Eating the bread of sorrow,
He gives to His beloved sleep;
Refreshing for tomorrow,
Spiritual zeal that will leap.

Children a gift from the Lord,
A heritage from above;
Fruit of the womb a reward,
Filled with blessings of His love.

Arrows of a warrior,
Are the children of your youth;
That you look on with favor,
Upbringing taught the truth.

Bless the man filled with quiver,
He will not be put to shame;
Making enemies shiver,
Speaking the Word to proclaim.
