Every day, we use words to communicate with ourselves and others. Our life depends on the words we express. We make decisions and give instructions, and even respond by using words. Once we speak these words, we cannot take them back. So, what we tell ourselves is as important as what somebody else says to us.
Our words are potent and transformative. Scripture tells us Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits. (Proverbs 18:21, ESV). Expressions get embedded in our minds and can have lasting effects. And one word can change the trajectory of your life. So, what you tell yourself does matter. It will lift you or tear you down. It will take you further than you’ve ever been, or prevent you from achieving anything. Beloved, in the same way, the words of others can decide your future, so can those words you speak to yourself.
What have you been saying to yourself? Do you encourage yourself or put yourself down? Are you declaring what God says about you, or believing your nemesis lies? Are you making yourself feel less than who God says you are? Are you permitting doubt to decide who you are? Come; let me remind you what God says of you, so you can be who He created you to be.
You are chosen. (Ephesian 1:4, ESV)
You are forgiven. (Ephesians 1:7, ESV)
You are loved. God lavishes you with His unconditional love. (John 3:16, ESV).
You are the apple of His eye. (Psalms 17:8, ESV)
You have the breath of the Almighty. (Job 33:4, ESV)
You are fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalms 139:14, ESV)
In Christ, you are a new creation. (2 Corinthians 5:17, ESV)
You are a child of God. (John 1:12, ESV).
Father, I have spoken words contrary to who You say I am. Change the way I think and make me who You created me to be. Amen
