I was reading an article on why leaves change colors each fall. Leaves are nature's food factories. Plants take in water from the ground through their roots. They also take in a gas called carbon dioxide, from the air. The plants then use sunlight to turn the water and carbon dioxide into glucose. The glucose is used as food for energy and as a building block for growth. This process of turning the water and carbon diioxide into glucose is called photosynthesis. That means "putting together with light." A chemnical called chlorophyll helps make photosynthesis happen. Chlorophyll is what gives plants their green color.
As summer ends and fall begins, the days become shorter. This lets the tree know to get ready for winter. During winter there is not enough light or water for photosynthesis to occur. The tree rests, and lives off the food they have stored during summer. They shut down their food-making factories and the green chlorophyll disappears from the leaves. As the green fades away, we begin to see yellow and orange colors. Small amounts of these colors have been in the leaves all along. We just can't see them in the summer, because they are covered up ay the green chlorophyll.
We are likeplants that have to go through a process. Our hearts and minds are leaves. They are natures food factories. We feed off what ever is around us. We drink and absorb what ever our roots are grounded in. We feed off the air (the spirit's) and the light we let in. This is what gives us energy and growth. All of this is what decides what color our leaves will be.
If we feed off God's spirit, the true light, and store up his word through the summer we will produce beautiful leaves full of bright colors. Then during the cold bitter winter we will have stored enough good things, food and rest to live off. Then we will not go hungry or become weary during those long winter months. His word and his spirit are like glucose, sugar, to our bodies. It is the sweet food we need.
If we choose to feed off darkness how can it bring those bright colors out? What can grow in the dark? Light is needed for growht. We all have some bit of color in us, but all have to be wise enough to go through the process to bring those colors out. We cannot see those colors while in the dark, they have not yet been uncovered. They must have that light in order to change colors.
If you are feeding off drugs and alcohol, thats all your storing up. What will you have left when your bottle is empty? If you are feeding off lies and affairs, what are you storing up besides destruction? If your feeding off depresion and sorrow all you are storing up is missery and defeat. None of these things things will store up good. Your roots have to be grounded in something goood before it can produce anything good.
We are all hungry and need to be feed. We all feed of something, but we need to be more careful of what we are feeding off.It is whats being absorbed in our hearts and minds that feed our spirit.
If you want to produce magnificent colors then ground yourself in light and not darkness.Don't be afraid to go through the process. Store up good things now. This process we go through is called salvation. Salvation produces wonderful, beautiful plants with glorious colors. "putting together with light". Take time to go through the process so you may find rest and eternal life.
Your body and spirit requires alot of the same needs. They both require rest and food in order to live. For many years I battled anorexia. I have been hosptolized many times becuase my body was not being properly fed. Without an adequate food supply your body slowly starts to starve. Your body cannot function properly withoout food. It is a process that slowly deteriates your body cuasing sever effects. You become weak, your musles start to fail. Your mind cannot think or cope rationally. One of the first muscles that become weak is your heart. It is so much like your spirit without adequate food. It's affects are very damaging. Slowly your spirit becomes weak and ill. Slowly it starves to death. What is your body and spirit saying to you? Are they slowly deteriating and starving? Make sure they have an adequate food supply that will bring rest and good health.
