In our living room hangs a painting handed down as an heirloom that has a way of changing over the course of the day, as many paintings do, depending on the kind and degree of light that falls upon them and the  angle from which they are observed.
  Human memory has this kind of changeable characteristic about it in that different aspects of different events are highlighted depending on what phase of life we are living through as we remember. For example, something that could have been remembered in a negative light earlier in our lives can take on a redemptive quality later, after there has been some amount of maturation. We pick up on a different feature in that event or experience that might of been overlooked or only lightly emphasized before.
