Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.” John 21:17b NIV
Peter was hurt, as he knew that Jesus knew that he loved Him. But how hurt must Jesus have felt on the night that Peter denied knowing Him three times? Our Lord knew that Peter would deny Him the three times, yet I am sure He felt hurt. Our Lord was like us in all ways but sin. This meant that He had feelings just as we do.
Do you ever think about the fact that the Lord would feel hurt inside His heart when you deny Him? Yet, He stands at the right hand of the Father, interceding on our behalf. He stands ready to forgive us and reinstate us into our ministry of following Him.
