"Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from Him. Truly He is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God; He is my rock, my refuge. Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge." Psalm 62:5-8
Discouragement is a battering ram trying to break down all our defenses. Uncertainty and discontentment are it's brother and sister, whispering doubt and thoughts like, "you're not doing enough," "you're missing out," and, "you deserve more." But this life is fleeting and all those strivings and all that you "deserve" or "miss out on" will one day fall away. The only thing that can bring real, lasting peace is our relationship with Christ.
Whatever you're going through, whatever plagues your thoughts, or if you just feel like everything is falling apart, try to focus all your thoughts on Jesus. "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you." (Matthew 6:33) It's true! He knows what we need before we need it, provides all that we require for life and godliness, and has the answer to all problems and worries.
Philippians 4:6-7 says, "Be anxious for nothing, but in all things through prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God that surpasses understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus."
So, pour out your heart to Him and know He hears and knows what you need. Find rest in Him and in His unfailing love. Put your hope in Him for His hope doesn't disappoint. Believe what Jesus said, "I am with you always, even unto the end of the age." Matthew 28:20b
