I read the story of a man who lived in the city, he wasn't that strong. He often lay by the pool side with some other people so he was never alone but the only issue is, he watched others get better while he...... let's just say he has too many excuses.

One day, Jesus visited his city for a celebration and noticed him lying there. Jesus asked a very funny question, "Would you like to get well?". I read that and I was like, common Bro J, you know he wants to get well! It is obvious he needs a miracle!! (with my eyes rolling at the sarcastic question Bro J asked lol). This man has been sick for 38 years! This man has been in that lying position for a really, really long time! Of course, he wants to be well!

But guess the man's response to Jesus question:

He said, "I can't sir."

The question asked required a Yes or a No response but he answered with a I can't. Can you count how many times you have said I can't do this or I can't do that?

Now hear the second part of his response:

"For I have no one to help me."

So many people have got the gift and talents but they lack faith in themselves. Some are waiting for validation from others before they can step out. They have buried their God-given gifts out of fear - fear of failing, fear of rejection, fear of 'i am not good enough', fear of I can't. In fact, we have several excuses why we just can't and won't. But for how long?.

"While i am trying to get there, someone else always gets in ahead of me." said the man. That response sounds similar to your kind of excuses right? I just don't have the time. I have too much on the table. I am waiting for the right moment. When I am this or when I am that, I might be able to do it. Right now is not the time........and so on.

Bible said, "Crowds of sick people - blind, lame, or paralyzed lay on the porches." John 5:3. They all had something in common and they were after the same thing - to get healed. How come he remained in the same position for 38 years? The answer.....Excuses!

Friends, no more excuses!

Remember there were crowds of people by that pool side, every man for himself. So in the same way you, if you wait for people's validation before you do what you have been called to do, you might be waiting a pretty long time.

I encourage you to believe in yourself even when no else does. Be your own cheerleader when there is none. Just as Jesus said to the man, I also say to you: Stand up, Pick up your sleeping mat and Walk.
