Over the years, I have been both an example of what TO do and what NOT to do in the Christian life, as my brothers have faithfully reminded me. Usually when I became conscious that I was serving as a good example for others, I would swell with such pride that it was hardly a minute before I had done or said something presumptuous to undermine or reverse the good.

  And so I am learning that most often it is better to cast our bread upon the waters and not to be so aware of being a good influence, and to "let the chips fall where they may" as the saying goes.
