The pathway to Knowing God better is allowing Him to introduce us to parts of ourselves we didn't know were there. These parts, along with the parts we already have discovered, then reflect God more fully and accurately. 
Since the disciple is not above his or her Master, it simply stands to reason that there would be some sense of "it's not supposed to be like this" in our own lives as there was in His, or some form of disillusionment or disappointment. 
What is disillusionment after all, but being liberated from our illusions? What is disappointment but an opportunity to be ushered into a more urgent appointment with God and then with others as He orders our steps? It is not only an urgent appointment, it is a sacred one.
God gives to us so generously in these sacred appointments, so that the overflow will reach others in their need. He is indeed the "Father of overflow."
