God Rewards Hard Work

          Know that your working is not in vain. Even when men try to cheat you out of what you have worked so hard for, God will provide. God will bless the work of your hands just like he blessed the work of Jacob’s hand when he worked and labored for Laban for twenty years (Genesis 31:38). Jacob served Laban for fourteen years for Laban’s two daughters, Leah and Rachel. Jacob had intended on just marrying Rachel, Laban’s younger daughter, after he worked for Laban his first seven years. Laban was a deceitful boss to Jacob. He tricked Jacob into marrying his older daughter, Leah, first, because it was the custom in Laban’s country that the elder sister marries first. Laban was deceitful again, in that he changed Jacob’s wages ten times (Genesis 31:41). “And ye know, that with all my power I have served your father. And your father hath deceived me and changed my wages ten times: but God suffered him not to hurt me. If he said thus, the speckled shall be thy wages, then all the cattell bare speckled: and if he said thus, The ring straked shall be thy hire, then bare all the cattell ring straked. Thus God hath taken away the cattell of your father and given them to me” (Genesis 31:6-9). “And the man increased exceedingly, and had much cattell, and maid servants, and men servants, and camels, and asses” (Genesis 30:43).

          God promises to make our way prosperous, if we are faithful and follow him. God was with Jacob on his job (Genesis 31:42). Just like God was with Jacob, when he worked for Laban, God will be with us on our jobs or when we labor for others. God will bless the work of our hands exceedingly just like he blessed the work of Jacob’s hand. God sees your hard work and ethic. Remember your hard work is not in vain. “God is a rewarder of them that do good and that diligently seek him” (Hebrews 11:6).

          Thank you God; that our work, is not in vain.
