Theodore Cleaver was adorable; I still laugh at his escapades. The Beav frequently got himself in a jam (and it wasn’t grape). Though never severe, he feared his father’s punishment.
The 1950's gave us family oriented black & white television shows. America still believed in absolutes; there was right and wrong and the differences were clear. Sitcoms were not a platform for situation ethics. Viewers were fully aware that bad behavior had consequences.
Beaver’s older brother Wally was protective. He often went to their father and explained how Beaver had gotten himself in trouble. Our brother, the LORD Jesus, goes before the Father on our behalf. He is our Advocate and defends us.
“My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous (1 John 2:1 NKJV).”
