Epistle to Philemon

Philemon was member of church at Colosse. May be house church or Colossian Church itself met in his house. Somesay Apphia may be his wife and Archippus may be his son. He was wealthy and owned slaves in his household. He had faith in Jesus and love for saints.

Colossian heresy means Cerinthianism of false teacher Cerinthus saying Jesus became God at Baptism and God left him at cross.

Paul said Philemon you refreshed the heart of saints more. And Onesimus was slave of Philemon who robbed his master and ran away. Onesimus means useful and benefit.

Formerly Onesimus was useless to Philemon but now he was useful to Paul and Philemon. Because Paul converted Onesimus in prison.

Paul could keep Onesimus to replace Philemon in chains. But he wanted to ask Philemon to accept Onesimus as dear brother. Paul took the pose of Jesus to ask for sinner Onesimus to Philemon who pose as Father God. This was a judiciary court setting.

Paul wanted to take imposing punishment of Onesimus on him if Philemon imposes. Paul was spiritual father of Philemon.

Paul asked Philemon to prepare guest room. This was prison epistle of Paul. Paul gave this letter to Onesimus and he to Philemon.
