Praying For Them

I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours. John 17:9 NIV

Jesus focuses the attention of His prayer here to those the Father had given to Him, who belonged to the Father. These are the men who would through their sharing direct the hearts of many to the only One who can save. Through prayer of the Lord, and the to be received indwelling Holy Spirt, who would remind these men of the Lord’s teaching, they would be equipped to succeed in the initial stages of the growth of Christ’s body, the church.

We today, the chosen, belong to the body of Christ. Christ prays for us before the Father and the indwelling Spirit directs us as we share the message about the only Truth in this world, the Truth that is not of this world. May souls be won to Christ through us sharing God’s message to a world in need.
