The Sons of Korah were appointed by King David to be in charge of the music in the Tent of Meeting.

"These are the men David put in charge of the music in the house of the Lord after the ark came to rest there. They ministered with music before the tabernacle, the tent of meeting, until Solomon built the temple of the Lord in Jerusalem. They performed their duties according to the regulations laid down for them." (1 Chronicles 6:31-32 NIV)

They were the Temple Musicians. The people listened to or chanted the words of their songs as they walked along, as they worked, in their worship. Their songs were very familiar.

One message was so important, so essential that it starts out "Listen to this, all you people! Pay attention, everyone in the world! High and low, rich and poor—listen! (Psalm 49:1-2 NLT)

What was this message that is for "everyone in the world"?

"But as for me, God will redeem my life. He will snatch me from the power of the grave. Interlude" (Psalm 49:15 NLT)

God promises to "snatch" us from "the power of the grave".

The "Interlude" at the end is to make us stop and think about this, to contemplate the meaning.

Our God is faithful to keep all His promises.

How does He "snatch" us from death?

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16 NLT)

He sent Jesus.

"God decided in advance to adopt us into His own family by bringing us to Himself through Jesus Christ. This is what He wanted to do, and it gave Him great pleasure." (Ephesians 1:5 NLT)

Every person ever born is chosen to know and love Father God. It is His desire. He will rescue from death anyone who chooses to believe Jesus' authority and power to pay the price for their life by dying in their place.

Jesus came to show us the full meaning of the words in the psalm written long ago by the Sons of Korah.

We believe.

He "snatches" us from death and makes us His forever.
