This same basic scenario has played out countless times over the past 2000 years:
Two believers who could rarely seem to see eye to eye on anything, who could never reconcile their relationship because of one or the other's dislike of the other or because of a mutual contempt, nevertheless also have a mutual love for Another whose name is Jesus Christ and Who sacrificed His life on their behalf in payment for their sin. And the power of the love behind that sacrifice shatters the barrier that existed, making peace between them.
They couldn't see or find each other by looking directly, they could only see and find each other by looking away through the lens of the Cross.
