WHEN I GET UP YONDER

Time has taken its ugly toll on me
Many a thing I’ve often failed to see
The morning dew upon the ground
Nature's pleasures I’ve not yet found.
One thing now stands out in my mind
All God’s goodness I failed to find
His kind mercy showing through it all
His loving favors so big and so small
His deeds I’ll never be able to repay
It hurts now when I think that way
If only my loving Father were so kind
To simply give me peace of mind
To love and cherish Him day by day
To thank Him for His kind-spirited way.
Oh, just where do I start to begin?
Maybe just a kind word now and then
Maybe a little prayer to say good night
Maybe simply holding His word so tight.
Oh, to go back to where I came in
Before all my regrettable and selfish sin.
Maybe in time when I get way up yonder
He will agree to love me a little bit fonder
So now I hope and pray living day by day
He may decide to love me His willful way.

^“I sought the Lord, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears.Those who look to Him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; He saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord  encamps around those who reverently fear Him, and He delivers them. “(Psalm 34: 4-7)

Ever feel down in the dumps? Come on now, open up and admit it. We’ve all, from time to time, been there and done that. You see, we’re only human, not robots. God in His infinite wisdom made us that way,

We all are made in the likeness and image of God. (Genesis 1:26-27) Not in an immeasurable infinite way, only in a human finite perspective.

We are all born with certain human traits such as talking, holding, reaching, feeling, hearing, and the like, all of which are chronicled throughout both the Old and New Testaments, that are ascribed to the Creator.

Thus, we all have the God-given freedom of free will. We can use this unique trait for good or evil. Sad to say, by virtue of man’s original fall and sin (Genesis 3:1-7) we are all now born with this inherited sin (Romans 3:23), and stand in need of redemption.

So, I trust you will enjoy this bit of humanized poetry founded on Scripture. God’s endless mercy, through His infinite grace is free for the asking. Amen! (Ephesians 2:8-9)
