His Mystery Revealed

I was just reading Ephesians 1:8-14. The words seemed to jump off the pages of my Bible at me and the Holy Spirit filled me with some thoughts I wish to share with you. I am not going to do this passage all in one writing as it would make it a bit lengthy.

“With all wisdom and understanding, he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ. “ Ephesians 1:8b-10 NIV

What struck me first were the words “with all wisdom and understanding”. Imagine God the Father putting all His wisdom and understanding into something which He did. There is no way we can begin to know the total wisdom and understanding of God the Father. It is so far beyond our comprehension. Just take a minute and really think about it.

Secondly, I am in awe when thinking of the fact that the Father makes known to us the mystery of His purpose which He did in the utmost of pleasure. God truly chose to reveal to us, His creation, the mystery of His purpose which He created.

Third, the purpose was created through Christ Jesus, the Father’s only Son, who came down from heaven and dwelt among us. Christ taught us of the Father’s will, not seeking His own want, but that of the Father who had sent Him. He suffered and died for us as the perfect sacrifice required for our redemption, our opportunity to stand before the Father, blameless, washed in the sacrificial blood of the lamb. We, for our part, must accept the offer and follow in the steps of Christ.

And finally, the purpose does not end with Christ’s death, resurrection, ascension into heaven and our resurrection from the dead. No, when all things are right and the time is proper, all things in heaven and earth shall be brought together under the headship of Jesus Christ! The proper time will come after the final judgement, when Satan, all his angels, and those who follow after him are sent to their eternal destiny in the unquenchable fire of hell.

We who are then left will spend forever in the presence of the Father and the Son. It will be forever and we will give glory and honor to the Father and the Son. There will be no descension. We will all be in one accord, united under the headship of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

Such is the mystery plan that the heavenly Father has purposed and willed, and He has made it known to us! Amazing!
