The Unwitnessed Moment

There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. Matthew 28:2-4 NIV

This reading is about as close as we can get to what it was like the very moment that Christ was raised from death. What must it have been like at the very moment He was raised? In the transfiguration of Jesus, His face shown like the sun and His clothes became as white as the light. Imagine all the power, wonder and awe that occurred at that very moment when He was raised. Yet, no human saw this occur.

Some things were just not meant by God to be personally seen by a human. No human saw the creation of the heavens and the earth, as humans had not yet been created. No human saw the creation of the human race. And no human saw the actual resurrection of our Lord. Even though we did not see any of these, it takes nothing away of the validity of their occurrence.

Many miracles in life we may see with our own eyes, things which there is no logical explanation to support their occurrence. Some things which occur we are meant to accept on faith. One who has no faith is one who is lost and without hope. Faith comes from within.

Through faith we believe that on this glorious day nearly 2000 years ago Jesus Christ was raised from death and thus defeated death. Death has no reign over those who belong to Christ. No, we did not physically witness the resurrection of Christ from the dead, yet we know in our heart and soul beyond the shadow of any doubt that it did occur, just as it is written. A blessed Easter to each and every one of you. HE IS RISEN!!
