For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me. Psalm 51:3 and 5 NIV

If one were to look at these two verses and not feel remorse and regret, saying “I have been there so many times” then I would question if that individual were a true Christian. A Christian will feel these feelings often and realize their weakness and total dependence upon God. The dependence is upon the mercy of God, His steadfast love for us, and the forgiveness offered to us through the Heavenly Father’s son Jesus Christ.

A non-believer would question how someone who is not born yet can be in sin. We who believe know the truth to the matter. From the day we were conceived we have been in sin. There is no way escaping having been born into it.

The real question is do we continue to live in sin, enslaved by it, or do we seek freedom from enslavement to sin? There is but one way to have the shackles of sin removed, and it is by no power of our own. It can only come through Jesus Christ. We must go before the Lord and acknowledge our sinfulness, confessing that without Him we shall always be a slave to sin, and seek the redemption that only He can bring through the sacrificial blood shed at Calvary.

Take the step. Acknowledge your sin before the Lord. Let Him know that you are aware that you need Him, that you need His forgiveness. Give all your sin over to the Lord and be cleansed in His blood. It is the only way to be saved from an eternity of doom and utter hopelessness in unquenchable fire.
