Why did Jesus hide from the leaders? He knew the time was nigh for Him to sacrifice His life for all of mankind, so why hide? It is because it still was not the appointed time. Jesus needed to have His last meal with His disciples, where He would declare one to be a traitor, tell the leader of the disciples that He would three times deny that he knew the Lord, and share other important things which the disciples needed to hear.
Yes, the appointed hour was nigh, but not quite yet at that point. Things still needed to occur within an extremely short time period.
