Could He Not Have Done Something?

But some of them said, “Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this man from dying?” John 11:37 NIV

At least there seems to be belief here in the ability of Jesus to perform miracles, as some remembered Him opening the eyes of a blind man. Did they even believe that Jesus could have healed Lazarus without being present? Quite possibly some did believe so.

What we must remember is that God does work and does provide, but in His time. The particulars of the current situation happened in that the glory of God might be revealed in Christ and what He was about to do.
