Trying to serve the God of Heaven

Does He see that I’m trying to be all right
Trying to serve the Father of my baby
Bouncing on the back of a stinky donkey

Bearing in my belly the best of the bunch
Bearing in my belly the best of His hunch
Bearing in my belly the burden of the bumps
Bouncing on the back of a stinky donkey

I’m bouncing on the back of a stinky donkey
Making a baby on the back of this donkey
Will he look like me or will he look like Him
Will look like God or Uncle Ephreim

Bouncing on the back of a stinky donkey
Leaving all behind, my grandma and my auntie
Bouncing on the back of a stinky donkey
Leaving all behind – my mom and a room key

Whoa, there! Let the troops pass
Mounted on their horses and in marching order

With their swords (Are those whips?) And their
shields (Are those hammers?)

Going to city that I’d rather not be in
Can we find our way? Does he know where we’re going?
Please let there be a place to make a home
in.

Where am I going on the back of this donkey?

Who’ll invite us to a hot meal and shelter?
Just keep bouncing on the back of this
donkey.

So I’ll bounce on the back of this stinky donkey
How I ache, how I hurt, and my head is spinning
He has a plan in this awful journey
He must have a plan in this bouncing nightmare

I’m bouncing on the back this stinky donkey
With dust in the air and the sun in my eyes
How I despise this trip to be taxed
No where to sit, no where to relax

Bouncing on the back of this stinky donkey
I’ll be glad of a bed and water
I’ll be glad of bread and water
I will be glad of shade and shelter

No room in the inn! No room in the inn?
I bounced on the back of a stinking donkey
To lay in the hay with a smelly ox
To eat with the sheep and sit with hens

How can this be place be Yahweh’s Way?
I don’t have a say in Yahweh’s Way?
Today in the hay is Yahweh’s Way.
