AFTER A DAY OF FASTING AND PRAYING!

By Henry Jaegers

What did I expect to happen? What did happen? What has been the outcome of these two days of fasting and praying?

If you have joined together with me in these past two days praying and fasting, these questions have probably come to mind. They have come to me and I would like to share with you the answer that I have received concerning these two days.

First, everything  I prayed for and expected to happen failed and turned out exactly opposite to that which I prayed for. I was totally disappointed in the outcome of the elections in Georgia. Overwhelmed, it seems as I could not figure out how some such unlikely candidates become our next two senators in Congress.

If that was not enough, then what happened on Wednesday did not improve my demeanor. Around 5 PM as I prayed and talk to the Lord about all of this, expressing my doubts as to the value of my praying, the Lord answered my prayer in a totally unexpected way. It was like a light coming on and I gained understanding and a new perspective of the various ways that God was working. The answer to prayer was not God doing what I asked, but it came as a  result of God doing something for which it never occurred to me that God indeed was in control.

For a short time, I thought that this day of fasting and prayer was to no avail. But as I have been teaching and sharing lately in the subject of prayer, God is teaching me that his ways, and timing, and provision is still perfect, even though my understanding may not be. But when I received understanding, peace came to my heart, the anxiety left and I saw hope for the future as I anticipate God's new work in my life.

Have these last two days left you with these questions? I hope that this short message will bring peace to your heart and confidence that God is indeed in control, though for a short time you may, like me have to struggle with some anxiety due to temporary misunderstanding.

. May God be praised.
