In our race with the day
it's so good to get a big head start,
so not being pressed or pushed
we are free to be led and not driven
with hot moist breath breathing
down our necks while playing catchup.
It's more fun after all to play catch than catchup.
It's hard to tell the light of dawn from the light of dusk before the sun rises or after the sun sets,
unless you've been there all along.
