The Limitless Love of God

Poor choices, misplaced priorities — we create so many problems for ourselves! Experts at digging giant holes and jumping into them, head-long, only to turn around and attempt to bargain with God to help us escape.

Just as Jesus got frustrated with his oft’ thick-headed disciples, God must get awfully frustrated with us (his children). The good news is that when the disciples showed a lack of faith, he didn’t just throw them aside and choose new followers, rather, he loved them anyway and guided them back to the truth.

I can imagine (being a parent) how disappointed he must be for us each time we stray, causing us to get off track and settle for something less than what could have been, but the most amazing thing about God is that no matter how deep a pit we’ve dug, if we call on him, he is faithful to forgive and to restore (1 John 1:9). He’s not looking to punish — His anger and wrath have already been poured out at the cross. There are often consequences to our actions (and that’s on us), but the God of the Bible is full of grace, eager for restoration.

Grace — a hard concept to grasp, because in our humanness, love is limited; conditional.

But God’s love is perfect love — limitless!

Lord, help me to grow in the likeness of you and be a channel for your limitless love, grace, and forgiveness. Amen.

Stephen, Thank you for your feedback. I revised my story to God impressing upon me that I should abstain from sex outside of a traditional, heterosexual marriage. I also plugged in the fact that I have repented of all my sins. I overlooked those two necessary facts, so I'm glad you pointed them out. You see, I have always been messed up, and God has understood me way better than I have understood myself. That is part of the point I was trying to make. I couldn't change, but God changed me, He met me where I was at and continued to work on me even though I was being a carnal Christian. Like that old country hymn, "Just As I Am" I came to God. To sum it all up, I wrote my story for those who are worried that God will give up on them, not realizing they have satanic strongholds as I did; another fact I added to my piece. Thank you for taking the time to critique my testimony. Sincerely!
