Lord God,

We thank you for the many missionaries who are currently serving around the world,

And for their sacrifices in leaving the comforts of home to preach the gospel in new places,

But this Christmas season can be particularly challenging for them,

Without family and friends around, many missionaries may be celebrating Christmas alone,

Many of them may be feeling homesick and isolated during this time,

As they continue to face the challenges of living in a foreign place,

Lord, I pray for comfort for these missionaries around the world,

May they find peace in knowing your presence with them during this season,

May they find strength in you to face the challenge of spending Christmas away from home,

And may they have opportunities to celebrate this season with new friends around them,

Lord, please also remind them that they are loved by many people back home,

Whether it’s through receiving friendly gifts and messages from overseas,

Or being able to maintain online communication with friends and family,

Or continuing to receive financial gifts from supporters,

Or being assured that many people are continuing to pray for them,

Help them to experience the support of friends, family and churches around the world,

I pray that during this Christmas season,

Please help all missionaries around the world to cast their eyes to Jesus,

As they remember and celebrate the good news of his birth 2000 years ago,

And also look ahead to his coming again,

I also pray that during this time,

Missionaries would have opportunities to keep sharing the hope of Christ with others,

So that in places where Christmas is not widely recognised,

More people might come to know the reason why we celebrate this season,

And come to believe in the good news,

That God has given us his son Jesus who came into the world,

And who sacrificed himself for us so that we can find salvation in him,

And knowing this Jesus is truly the greatest gift anyone can receive this Christmas.
