A CALL TO ALL

SERIOUS-MINDED CHRISTIANS

On January 5,6, the future of our country will be determined by what takes place on these two days.

In light of this, I am crying out to those who have ears to hear; if ever there was a time needed for a time of fasting and prayer it is now!

I urge you to listen carefully as I explain why this is necessary.

In Mark chapter 9: 29, after Jesus' disciples were unable to cast out certain types of demons, Jesus addressed their failure to do so with these words: "this kind comes not out but by prayer and fasting”!  Jesus is telling us, his disciples today, that certain types of spiritual adversaries cannot be overcome except through serious consideration and by giving determined effort to overcome the power of Satan. Since Jesus made these statements, then it is important to take seriously this matter when times and days of fasting and prayer are necessary.

Jesus does not tell us when those times will be, but the fact remains there are those kinds of opposing forces at work that required some action from us today. I, myself, am going to take my own words seriously and spend those days in fasting and prayer and I hope others will join me.

There are a few more verses that I would like you to take at face value and lay aside any pre-digested theories that you may have been taught. In the book of second Thessalonians chapter 2, Paul is addressing Christians who were fearful that the day of Christ had already come and they were left behind. In chapter 2 Paul addresses these fears and puts to rest any doubts they may have had concerning the coming of Christ. Read carefully yourself and consider what Paul is saying in these verses. First, he said, that day will not come before a time of apostasy takes place. The falling away mentioned in these verses refers to a falling away from the truth. Paul continues and says, that at this time, God will send a great delusion on the people that they would believe the lie. And it was upon this period, that the future man of sin will arise and a time of great tribulation will begin.

These are the clear statements mentioned by the Scripture and do not need interpretation.

Next in Matthew 24, Jesus answered the questions of the disciples when they asked him what the signs of the times would be about his coming. Jesus carefully annunciated what we can expect to happen before he comes and then in verse 29 we are told "Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. (Matthew 24: 29-31) Read also Revelation 1:7 to get the fuller picture.

Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

And finally, I would call your attention to these verses found in the book of Revelation after Jesus gave his discourse in Matthew 24. It is in Revelation chapter 12 and here are the final words I would like to share.

And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.  And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony, and they loved not their lives unto the death. Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. (Revelation 12: 10-12)

By sharing these verses with you, I realized that many do not hold to this particular interpretation of Scripture. It is not my purpose to engage in debate whether what theory is right or wrong. Before us, we have some clear teachings of Scripture concerning the end times that appear to be close at hand. I am not trying to be an end-times prophet; I am calling upon you as a faithful Christian who is genuinely concerned about the future of our country and the glory of God. I would urge you to think about these words from God that I have shared with you and consider if they are worthy to motivate you to be part of a day of fasting and prayer concerning some serious needs of our country.
