So why did Jesus remain in Bethabara (area by where John had baptized) for two more days after being told of the sickness of Lazarus? He may have been further testing the faith of the two sisters of Lazarus. It is also possible that He did have unfinished work where He currently was and wished to complete it. The most likely reason though is that He wanted absolutely no doubt in anyone’s mind that Lazarus was already dead when He arrived on the scene.

Jesus knew He would raise Lazarus from death. He raised our souls from death and one day shall raise our perished bodies from the grave as they will then be transformed into heavenly bodies.
