UNDERSTANDING BIBLICAL FAITH

The Bible teaches that Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. (Romans 10:17)  Notice Faith is not achieved through just hearing someone’s explanation of Faith but by the hearing of God’s Word.  Problems arise when Christians are motivated by those who interpret Faith, instead of understanding Biblical Faith.   Faith that is defined by emotions will fail the “litmus” test.  Faith is a spiritual verb that requires an action.  Faith is progressive.   Faith is a seed that germinates and continues to grow throughout the Believer’s life.   One will never arrive at completed Faith.  It is a journey of ever increasing Faith.  Every Christian is given a measure of Faith (Romans 12:3) and from that point on, the Believer has the responsibility to grow that Faith into a total resolve to trust Him no matter the challenges in life.

As we followed Jesus through the Gospels and traveled with Him through the plains, valleys, and mountains, our Faith began to accelerate.  We followed Him to the cross of substitution and the empty tomb of our resurrected Savior.  We buckled up, for the more we read the faster our Faith grew.  The more we received revelated Truth, the tighter we pulled our spiritual seat belts.   Our Faith began to accelerate leaving behind our doubts and fears.  Soon our Faith broke the sound barrier, no longer hearing the things of the world.   As our Faith grew, our words and actions reflected Jesus and His resurrected life.  True Faith represents the Way, the Truth, and the Life.  Faith moves from just talking about Faith, to living Faith.  For Faith to become a reality, the middle letter of that word must be active.

The Christians that use social media as a means of displaying their Faith are mute unless their actions complement their words.  The world is full of “catchy” phrases but is lacking “catchy” actions.  What we do with what we confess will have more effect than confessing what we hope others will follow.  May our actions outperform our words! 

Let me end by challenging every Believer to understand Biblical Faith, and then to exhibit that Faith for all the world to see.  Amen!?
