   God yearns for fellowship with us. He hungers for our company. What a treasure awaits us. What a wealth of wonder is ours to explore this way, what a privilege with which to "engage" ourselves daily, this business of acquainting ourselves more and more with God.
   Like a parent whose children and grandchildren mostly come to see them when they need some favor, the parents accept this state of affairs, knowing that they would hardly ever see them otherwise. But often there is one child or grandchild in the midst who is different and distinct in that he or she values the company of the parent for its own sake not as a means to gain some other benefit. That one can be found gleaning the wisdom, delighting in the stories, savoring the fellowship of the older generation. This one loves the parent or grandparent in a unique way. All of the children and grandchildren love their parent or grandparent, but this particular one loves them closer to the way that he or she is loved. 

  Today there is a remnant of God's children that loves that way, that aren't too much in a hurry to spend time with the Heavenly Father for no other reason than the delight of sensing and cultivating His nearness and hearing that delicate, still small voice. They long to know Him better, to love Him more. Their longing for this mirrors His yearning for their fellowship. They are a perfect match.
