Signs of Communion

We can know we have been communing with the all-wise all-knowing One when we come away saying or thinking something like, "Gee, thanks, I never thought of it quite that way before."  In fact we may find people saying that to us because of Whom we've been listening to. It's like an invitation to gaze through a high powered telescope or an electron microscope into a whole new 🌎 world. "Wow! I never saw that before. In fact, I've never even seen anything remotely LIKE that before. To look into His eyes will also be to look THROUGH those eyes, to look through those telescopic eyes and to see everything and everyone, including ourselves, in a new and heavenly light. If this present world is so beautiful as we sometimes perceive it to be, we can at least begin to imagine how beautiful a fully redeemed creation will be, seen through fully redeemed eyes. "Sweetheart, come look at this, oh my gosh!" The sunset had exploded deep orange through the trees outside our dining room window. "Wow! That truly is something to behold." I answered coming up behind her. Then she said something that touched me. "Thank you for coming to look." I had been comfortably ensconced in my recliner. It would have been easier to say lazily, "I'll take your word for it." But that would have left her alone in the beauty, which might have left a bittersweet aftertaste. As it was, though, I am so glad I kept a little tragedy from occurring. It was thoroughly sweet to have companionship in the perception of the extraordinary. There is something instinctive in the experience of the extraordinary and the encounter with the sacred that arouses in us a desire to share it somehow.This is at the heart of the holy engine driving the continuous growth of the kingdom of God.
