Are you grieving over the loss of a loved one or friend?

I lost a close friend a couple of years ago. I attended my home church soon after and wept uncontrollably. Understanding my sorrow, the congregation interrupted the service to stop and pray. I cannot express how much that meant to me. We can turn to our churches for encouragement and support. 

Don’t stifle your emotions; release them. Tears bring healing.

“Now Sarah lived 127 years; these were the years of the life of Sarah. Sarah died in Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron) in the land of Canaan; and Abraham came in to mourn for Sarah and to weep for her (Genesis 23:1-2 NASB).”

Time may not heal all wounds but in time we do find comfort.

“A time to weep and a time to laugh (Ecclesiastes 3:4 NASB).”

Most friends will understand your sorrow.

“Then the Jews who were with her in the house and were consoling her, when they saw that Mary had gotten up quickly and left, they followed her, thinking that she was going to the tomb to weep there (John 11:31 NASB).”

Jesus is touched with our grief.

“Therefore when Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her also weeping, He was deeply moved in spirit and was troubled, and He said, ‘Where have you laid him?’ They said to Him, ‘Lord, come and see.’ Jesus wept John 11:33-35 NASB).”

Peace will come to the sorrowful.

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted (Matthew 5:4 NASB).”
