Then they hurled insults at him and said, “You are this fellow’s disciple! We are disciples of Moses! We know that God spoke to Moses, but as for this fellow, we don’t even know where he comes from.” John 9:28-29 NIV

We are not made aware as to what the insults toward the man from the Pharisees were, but I am sure they were very bad, Then they believe they hurl one final insult at him, claiming him to be a disciple of Jesus. Although he was not a disciple, he was doing a decent job of letting these leaders know that Christ was not as how they perceived Him to be.

The Pharisees were correct in saying that God spoke to Moses, yet they did not follow in Moses’ steps. Instead they held to the man-made laws which they had created, assuming them to be pleasing to God.

The Pharisees claiming that they knew not from where Jesus came was the result of their stubbornness to hear the truth. They prided themselves on knowing scripture, so they knew from where the Messiah would come. They just would not accept that Jesus was the Messiah as His ways were in direct contrast to the Jewish leaders.
