Surely it must have been noticed before that God, when it comes to math prefers addition and multiplication to subtraction and division. After all, He ADDS daily to His family the number being rescued from themselves and He regularly ADDS His blessing to the reading of His word. Not only that, Jesus the Good Shepherd is a force multiplier who MULTIPLIES loaves and fish and the like to nourish His flock. Grace and peace are ever being MULTIPLIED to His churches. Whereas, on the other hand, it is the enemy of our souls that specializes in subtraction and division as he tries to SUBTRACT that peace from our lives and plots to DIVIDE us from one another so we cannot be effective agents of change in society.

  This is not to say that God does not resort to subtraction sometimes, as when He progressively reduced Gideon's army to 300 warriors to eliminate dead weight and, promote efficiency and to ensure that God alone would get the glory, and not the superior numbers and weaponry of any fighting force.
