The True Essence of Eternal Life

John 11:25-26 ~Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.  And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

1 John 2:24-25 ~ ^“Therefore let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father.  And this is the promise that He has promised us—eternal life.”

I always found it interesting at how the phrase, “Life is short” is tossed around so easily from this person to that person, I’ve even been guilty of using it myself and before we realize, it has become a phrase traveled world-wide…but, it never occurred to me that this long-time adage isn’t true at all because life is not short it is everlasting.  The Bible teaches that the spirit never dies only transformed from one state of being into an infinite state of existence. Eternal life in Heaven comes to those who belong to Jesus Christ through faith and His loving grace; but those who belong to the devil, those with an unrepentant heart the non-believers will live a life of eternal existence in the pits of Hell after being transformed in the second death. 

Ephesians 4:20-24 ~ “But you have not so learned Christ, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus:  that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts,  and be renewed in the spirit of your mind,  and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.”

Revelation 21:8 ~ “But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

The Bible teaches that we must repent of remaining in a constant sinful state but to live with a renewed mind, heart and spirit by genuinely following the Commands of God.  Jesus summarized all the Old Testament Commandments down to two in the New Testament as witnessed in the following Scripture:

Matthew 22:37-40 ~Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’  This is the first and great commandment.  And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’  On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”’

And if we learn to follow these two commands our renewed hearts and minds will come to fruition through our acts of love toward our Heavenly Father as well as toward one another.  Although it may not always be easy since we are presently housed in our fleshly bodies and subjected to temptation from time to time, but it is still essential to overcome and honor God’s requests because He never requires more from us than what is bearable:

Revelation 21:7 ^~  “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.” 

1 Corinthians 10:13 ~ “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”

 God established mankind from the beginning of time with a predestined purpose for how He declared our lives to be lived.  He also gave us free will to seek that purpose and to live accordingly by choice. This world is only temporary and is not of God, but all who acquire His truth and obey it with a reverent and faithful heart will find an everlasting residence with Him.

1 John 2:15-17 ~ ^“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.  And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.”

And so, we must all acknowledge the Son, Jesus Christ as our Savior and accept Him with our whole beings so that we will become worthy through the transformation of His Holy Spirit and try our best to live a life of righteousness.  There is truly no other way that God will open the doors of Heaven to us except through His precious Son and through our faith in the life, death, and resurrection of Christ.  I live my life with the wisdom of this truth and just that knowledge alone comforts my heart with hope and peace of mind and spirit as my journey continues through all worldly trials and tribulations.

Regardless of how much I have or will suffer it will never compare to the suffering on the Cross that our Lord endured on behalf of all sinners to restore mankind as God originally intended ever since the beginning of time.  Regardless of the perspectives of atheists and other skeptics and false idol worshippers, God is the one true God and His Son, Jesus Christ is risen and seated at God’s right hand.  Jesus left His Holy Spirit before He ascended into Heaven to indwell us and to help encourage us as we continue this worldly journey. This life will one day perish and all genuine believers in the Word of God will be transformed into a life that is unimaginable from the life we live now.  I pray that each of you receives this truth and live by it with faith, love, and hope of what will occur on that day. 

John 14:15-20 ~ “If you love Me, keep My commandments.  And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.  I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also.  At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.”

Revelation 21:4-7 ~ “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.  Then He who sat on the throne said, ‘Behold, I make all things new.’ And He said to me, ‘Write, for these words are true and faithful.’  And He said to me, ‘It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts.  He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.”’

2 Timothy 3:16-17 ~ All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
