Divorce is probably one of the most hurtful experiences known to mankind. Everything is grey and there is no color. The children involved will get hurt in the process, one way or another. There is no area in your life that won’t be affected, be it physically, emotionally, and financially. No wonder God hates divorce!

So many people carry the shame of going through a divorce with them; a shame that is not easily shaken. The shame of widowhood /widowerhood is crippling, to say the least. Many parents have to deal with great loss when they are not awarded custody or not the primary care-giver. Make no mistake, life will never be the same again. There are no ‘recipes’ or ‘how-to’ books that can take away the pain. Only Jesus can help pick up the pieces and it is important for the kids to know this as well.

Many people may feel that God has failed them, that He left the building a long time ago. Some may feel that the whole idea of marriage is just messed up, look at all the pain and destruction it caused. The truth is, God is faithful to forgive and give us a fresh start. Sometimes the pain we feel can be so severe that we cannot focus on the important stuff.
