Do You Have Faith?

Glancing across the restaurant I saw a man bow his head and say grace. While it is possible that he did it because his mother instilled that habit into him, I prefer to think that he had faith to believe that God was listening.  Faith is internal.  We can only see its evidence.

Likewise, my minister asked me how I expressed my faith.  After thinking I replied, “Telling someone about what I believe, praying, giving, and going to church are all expressions of my faith.“  Admittedly, these same activities could be done for other reasons. God is the judge of our actions.

One night I was walking through the night market in Chiang Mai, Thailand.  I noticed a lady with a cross necklace. That was unusual in a Buddhist culture.  So I asked her about the significance of her necklace and she said, “I am a Christian.”  She was boldly expressing her faith and the glow on her face confirmed the sign on her necklace.

Faith is also evident in how we respond to our turbulent world.  People of faith know that God will ultimately be triumphant and that gives them peace.  

Lastly when a person has faith in the truth of God’s Word, he wants to support God’s work with everything that he has: his money, his influence, and his time.

Hebrews 11:6 (NIV) declares, “and without faith it is impossible to please God.”  If we want to have a greater impact on our world, coworkers, children and neighbors, we must have faith.

Does your life reflect a deep faith in God?

Prayer: Lord, help me to have such a strong faith in you that those around will be attracted to you..
