TO HIM THAT IS ABLE TO KEEP YOU...

“Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,...” Jude 1:24

To as many of us that grace has enabled to accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour, being presented to God ‘faultless’ is not an option but a necessity if we are to lay hold on eternal life. The joyful end for the Christian pilgrim is to make heaven and to spend eternity with the Lord.

Our scriptural text for today speaks of One who has the capacity to:

a. Keep us from falling; and

b. To present us faultless before the presence of His glory

These are 2 of the most critical things for us - the ability to stand firm in Him till the end and to be found in Him without “...spot, or wrinkle...and without blemish.” Critical because speaking of heaven Revelation 21:27 (NIV) states “Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful..” This of course means that if we are to make it to heaven, we must be found ‘faultless’.

But if you are like me you must have discovered by now the futility of every man-made effort to live God’s way; you would have noticed the absolute inability of the natural man to please God; you must have experienced the frustration that comes from every human strategy, human device and human plan to live a life pleasing to God. Scripture is indeed true - the natural man can never please God - not because it doesn’t want to but because it, by its nature, lacks the capacity to do so. And that is why it is mandatory that we access and appropriate the grace, the wisdom and the power of Him who alone has the power to “...keep us from falling... and to present us faultless...”

The pursuit of God is therefore not an option for those who want to end well. It is the only available choice.

And so, we must be intentional about pursuing His presence, we must make up our minds to know and to love Him. We must let Him become the most important person in our lives - and One whose will and purpose takes precedence over everything else. We must spend quality time with Him - in fellowship, in the Word and in worship - day and night. His ways must become our ways, His burdens must become our burden; and we must continue to press in to this wholehearted life in Him until we become one with Him!

And as we live as one with Him, we will discover that we can do all things through Him - we can live holy, we receive the capacity to tell the truth at all times, we are able to love as He loves, we can overcome temptations that buffet us every day seeking to make us fall, we are suddenly comfortable and able to spend hours in His presence, our ears can finally ‘hear’ His voice, we are able and proud to tell others about Him....

By Christ Jesus, I exhort us to make room or greater room for ‘Him’ in our lives, I beg us to seek, to pursue, to abide in and to desperately hold unto Him as unto the only One who is able to keep us and to present us faultless before His presence.

May the Lord, in His mercy, grant to us great and incredible capacity to seek and to find Him, to hold unto and to abide in Him till the end; and as we do so may we experience the exceeding joy that is the Kingdom of God!

 Shalom!
