Unless it is the Lord who builds the house, the builders’ work is pointless. Unless it is the Lord who protects the city, the guard on duty is pointless (Psalm 127:1).Every family wanted their children to become successful in life. Parents sacrifice their resources, time, and energy to achieve that goal. In fact, some parents lost their lives for the sake of their children. According to the ASPE survey on Research on Successful families, the characteristics of strong, healthy families are communication, encouragement of individuals, expressing appreciation, commitment to family, religious/spiritual orientation, social connectedness, ability to adapt, clear roles and time together. Many researchers consider the religious or spiritual orientation is identified as an important component of strong families. However, there is disagreement over which aspects of religion are most critical to family functioning. Most scholars estimate that there are around 4,200 active religions in the world. And some of them identified as deceptive, hopeless, and pointless. As Christian parents, we need to be sound in teaching the word of God for our children. The Psalmist reminded us that God is the right builder and defender of our household and nation. He used the specific metaphor in his poem about building a house. The word “building” in Hebrew is “banah” meaning to build – begin to builder, obtain children, make, repair, setup, surely. For example, When you start to build a house you need to look the right builder. Why? Because we need to ensure the safety of the structure as the top priority. I mean, the truth behind this representation that a family and nation to flourish and enduring are built in God’s foundation and direction (1 Samuel 2:35; 1 Kings 11:38; Amos 9:11; Proverbs 14:1).Thus, we need to be careful! There are many faith builders out there but a wolf in nature. As Matthew said, beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves (Matt. 7:15). These faith builders are not real but cunning and deceptive. The only true Master builder, keeper, defender, and restorer is God.
