THAT DAY!

What Has God Said; and

 Should We Take Him Seriously?

When it comes to the children of God, what is more important? We are living in serious times, which are clearly predicted by the word of God that would take place. Is it possible that the events mentioned in Matthew 24 and in chapters 24 to 35 of Isaiah true?  How about the collapse of the world economy mentioned in Revelation chapter 18? How many preachers tell us about that? With such times evidently at hand, should we ignore these? Is it possible that what we are seeing before us is the beginning of the times predicted by Christ that would take place prior to his coming (Re: “That Day?”) If that day is not coming upon us, what we are facing then is a preview of how bad things will become later.

We have all the politicians who have all the answers and the philosophers and the doctors etc. planning on how they could make things better and they do it without once falling down on their knees and calling upon God for mercy. It has not yet “come to that”. But those of us who take the word of God seriously and do not listen to all the false prognosticators and idealists about the Scriptures can see clearly that God has spoken, and he has spoken clearly and he speaks not in times past but to those of us who claim the name of Christ living in this present evil world.

We have these professional teachers of prophecy who seem to either not know what the word of God says or they choose to ignore it and put another interpretation upon the simple truth of Scripture because they are men of renown with great intellectual knowledge, and they become our leaders and they are like the false prophets living during the time of Jeremiah. The false teachers were more evident during the time of Jeremiah. Isaiah seems to be all by himself in declaring God's truth.

I have been studying prophecy for over 60 years and in the last 15 years, I have given it more attention than I have in the past, because I had spent many years unlearning the false things that I was taught earlier in my life. I had deliberately sought to study prophecy in order to understand what God said, and what he meant by what he said. I have deliberately ignored the opinions of the majority of so-called Bible teachers who want to spin something on the word of God that God has not said or spoken.

A few weeks ago, and maybe longer, as I have given a casual look at the book of Isaiah, it has been impressed in my mind that I must spend time meditating on these truths. In these past few days during the hours when I had difficulty sleeping early in the morning, I spent my time reading through the first 40 chapters of Isaiah. This morning I gave specific attention to chapters 24 through 40, and as I read about the events that would take place during "that day", I discovered for the world that has forsaken God, there is going to be a very turbulent time. But then I noticed there is a remnant that God is speaking to who are the faithful to believe and obey the word of God and listen to what he has to say. And for these God promises protection and safety.

I would urge you to read chapters 24 to 40 of Isaiah and think carefully about what they have to say and in so doing think of what is happening in our day right now.

Suppose, what the news is telling us is not true? Suppose things are not going to get better? No one knows. But we know what God has to say about the days and the time surrounding "that day". It's the day of God's great judgment that the world will have to face: The wrath of God because of their ignoring the word of God.

Whether they are right or wrong, we must take God's word seriously and live seriously in these serious times. Perhaps by God's grace, he may spare us from this time, but who will recognize his hand of mercy except a faithful few? I close with these words taken from Hebrews chapter 2 which say, Therefore, we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. For if the word spoken by Angel’s was steadfast and every disobedience and transgression received a just recompense of reward, how shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation which was once spoken by the prophets and it was confirmed to us by those who heard him. (Hebrews 2:1-3).
