As I traveled along life’s roadway,
I came across a blocked street one day,
And in the middle of the road, right center,
There was a signed that bared the words, “Do Not Enter”.
I guess curiosity got the best of me,
And my desire to know where it led increased.
So, I pushed my way through
To see where the road led to.
As I proceeded on this forbidden roadway,
I could see that it was leading me astray;
But, the more I traveled, the more I wanted to know
Just where and how far this road would go.
The roadway seemed to become longer and darker along the way
And time spent on it ended up being years instead of one day.
I remained on that road, lost and confused
Being mistreated, taunted and abused
By the other travelers I would meet;
For, they’re goal was to rob and cheat
Me of my joy and peace of mind;
Not one real friend could I find.
Oh, how I wished I had continued on the right roadway;
For, I’m now lost because I chose not to obey
The warning not to enter this place of torment.
It has only been filled with confusion, failure and disappointment.
God saw fit to shine a light down upon me
And opened my spiritual eye so that I could see
How to get back to the right roadway,
And now that I’m back I won’t ever go back astray.
So, when God puts a warning before you, right down center,
Be obedient to the words, “Do Not Enter”
Because you’ll only lose valuable time
Trying to figure out and find
How to get back on the right track;
For, once you return to the right road, you won’t dare turn back.
