Title: For the Love of My People

General Considerations: Because of the many rich blessings contained in this book, it is advised that the teacher or leader be prepared to spend several weeks, if necessary, to cover all the many details contained herein. I am deliberately designing the study to take longer in order to get the greatest value from studying this book.

The title that I have chosen to use for this book came to me several years ago after I had carefully read through the book of Isaiah, that when I arrived at chapter 50, I discovered the great love that God had for these people despite the wicked way they treated him. It is this title that helps me to understand all the details mentioned in this book and how to bring them altogether to a perfect ending.

G. Campbell Morgan, in his exposition of this book, mentions that the two main chapters are found in chapter 6 and chapter 50.

Because of all the various messages found throughout the book, it is difficult to formulate an outline because the chronology is unclear. So, my purpose is to present the simplest way possible an outline for this book that would be easy to remember.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

1. In chapter 1, describe the period in which Isaiah spoke and what words of comfort and encouragement are found in this chapter?

2. In chapter 2:1-5, Isaiah begins his message concerning the judgment of the nations. For what purpose do you think this positive statement is given in these verses?

3. In chapter 2:12,20, how does this description of "the day of the Lord" and "that Day", differ from the time called "In the Latter Days"?

4. Beginning in chapter 5:25, notice these words "but his hand is outstretched still". Trace through the chapters to find out how often these words are used to describe how God's love is displayed every time.

5. Throughout the book, there are several references to the coming Messiah. Beginning with chapters 7, 9,11, 52 and 53, describe how the Messiah is described in these verses. (His person and his work).

6. In chapters 7 and 8, and chapters 36 -39, describe what happened during the reign of King Asa and King Hezekiah, and how God's mercy toward them was shown.

7. In chapter 40 the blessing attached to "the latter days", is described. In these verses, to whom does this prophecy refer in verses three through eight? Read through the end of this chapter and discuss the great blessings that await those who are the true "Israel of God".

8. In chapter 42, "my servant" is the main subject of this chapter. Describe and discuss how "my servant" is mentioned?

9. Skip to chapter 50 and noticed the great promises that God has in store in the future for his faithful ones. Take note, that most of these prophecies remain yet unfulfilled. When do you think that they might take place?

10. We close the book with chapter 55, noting the great invitation given by God to his people. Read through all of the chapters and compare it with the final invitation given in Revelation chapter 22:17. Can anyone tell the appropriateness of the title for this book

" For the Love of My People"?
