ON PLAGUES AND PROVIDENCE

By now, nearly everyone is afraid of catching COVID-19 because it can kill.  What people don’t realize is that God allows these troublesome times as a means of getting the lost to start thinking about their mortality and what comes next.  It is meant to get people right with God.  And it’s working. In fact, a recent Global TV news survey indicates that 26 per cent of people are turning to faith because of this deadly disease. Praise God for His wisdom!

As for us believers, we must take precautions, but we must not fear this unseen enemy, either.  To be sure, God is in control.  And God engineers the circumstances of our lives (Proverbs 20:24).  If he can bring good out of some of us catching this infection, he will allow it (Romans 8:28).  But we must realize that nothing happens to God’s children unless our gracious God says so. And if our gracious God says so, we can be sure it will be to His glory and our eternal good.

So, let us keep the faith.  The worst that can happen will be the best that can happen—that is, we shall be with the LORD for evermore.  Yes, some of us believers are destined to die from this COVID-19 crisis, but we will only depart this world and be resurrected in the world to come, where we will be happy for eternity (Revelation 21:4).
