Greetings,

I am not 100% that this analogy is accurate and will deeply welcome any feedback posts that may be convenient:

Peter and Mark were as different as two young men could be. Peter was the studious type, uncomfortable if he did not do his homework while Mark, given his good looks and popularity, sometimes felt slightly above it all. Many of Mark’s role models had apparently made it in life without a complete formal education and many of his friends had assured him of their faith in this belief as well. Their two very different approaches stayed with them all through the earlier part of their lives, Mark always slightly looking down on Peter’s earnestness in class and horror at skipping even one day of school.

Several years later life did not turn out exactly as Mark had expected. One of his friends, to the derision of another two had earlier on decided to repent and become a more focused student. His absence at the exciting parties and outings that sometimes lasted for days were not even felt and when the college broke the news that Mark and his three remaining friends would have to retake one or two classes or leave the institution, there was not even a pause for any reflection. They all would leave the college at once and join one of the gangs they had been eyeing. That was reality. All this math stuff was just not what life was made of. One member of the group at the very last minute decided to endure the shame and do it all again despite howling laughter from the rest at his announcement. Several years later, deep in a massive penitentiary, they all remembered and even deeply envied him...
