     Over the last few years, abortion has been brought out into the light and shown for what it truly is--a systematic system of murder, much like as contained in the Old Testament.  In those days, heathen parents would sacrifice their born children to pagan gods just so they could get financial advantage, better crops, or a generally better life.  The Lord, in His infinite wisdom warned the Hebrews against duplicating the efforts of their pagan neighbors.

    They did not listen then…and in our modern era some who ‘claim’ to be ‘professing’ Christians are still not listening now.  Christian women, by their own volition--and, in some cases encouraged by weak, responsibility-avoiding men--seek to abort the fruit of the womb.

    Let me be clear at this point.  A lot of the sins of the world would shrink substantially IF Christians would NOT take part in them.  IF Christians would not ‘socially drink’, the liquor industry would be laying off people, and ‘micro bars and breweries’ would not be dotting inner city neighborhoods.  IF Christians would stop playing the lottery or going to the casino, the gambling industry would shrivel up and die on the vine.  IF Christians would get control of their homes, they would not have to attend so many funerals, as their children become ‘street fodder’ for gangs, drug dealers, and human traffickers.

    Truly, there are no new sins…just old ones wrapped up in pretty new ribbons.  Unfortunately, too many Christians get ‘wrapped up’ with the ribbons, and ignore the sin.  Or think that God’s Word does not apply to them in ‘real life’.  Amen?

    Years ago, Charles Stanley provided a great example defining the realities of salvation, coupled with the consequences of one’s actions.  In using the example of a playboy who liked to ‘sow his wild oats’, Stanley noted that the playboy could repent, confess his sins, and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, and be a new creature in Christ.  However, there were still consequences for this new Christian IF one of those women whom he was immorally involved BEFORE he became a Christian turned up pregnant.  Will God forgive the sin if confessed?  Absolutely!  Your past is forgiven.  However, there are going to be consequences that Jesus will stand by you through, as you face them.

    There are consequences to abortion on demand that the world, the devil, and the flesh will keep from ignorant Christian women in particular, and women in general.  I’ll list some of these ‘hidden snares’ in no certain order.  I’m not going to dwell on the statistics, horror stories and what have you.  I’m just going to hit upon the snares that I have observed over the years:

    *The first snare--selfishness.  How is it that two people laid down to have a sexual union, two people get up from that immorality, and one person ‘the woman’ gets to make the decision about the life of the unborn child WITHOUT consulting the father?  Interestingly enough, there ARE reportedly a few men who--upon receiving word of an unplanned pregnancy--would immediately be willing to marry the mother of his child.  Abortion selfishly removes the man and the unborn child from the decision and even the marriage equation.

    *The second snare--hypocrisy.  Have you ever noticed that many of those who push abortion already HAVE families of their own?  That’s right.  They don’t show you the ‘large family pictures’ of their OWN children and grand children and great grand children.  In short, the great ‘abortion saints’ have the following philosophy:  “Kill YOUR children, but don’t touch mine!”  

    *The third snare--financial risks.  Take a look at how much money Planned Parenthood ‘donates’ to candidates that agree with their pro-abortion message.  The numbers are staggering.  It gives new meaning to the term ‘blood money’.  Even among candidates that have religious views that are solidly against abortion.  Then, what about those news stories and undercover stings that revealed a VERY lucrative underground existing for the trafficking in organs belonging to aborted babies.

    *The fourth snare--health risks.  Women suffer all kinds of health issues from abortions.  Breast cancer, cervical cancer, infections and infertility are some of the more obvious health afflictions.  Of course, you won’t see these statistics published in your local newspaper.  Another point about pro-murder politicians has also been of interest to me.  How is it that the same politicians that are FOR abortion always pose in their political or press gatherings WITH their own children?  H’mmm?

    Yes, there are other snares, and there are those who will attempt to push a variety of data to ‘explain away’ some of these snares enough to have you ‘doubt’ them?  Well, here’s one item that continues to tick away.  The number of abortions that have taken place in America since Roe v. Wade is estimated to surpass 60 million, with more than 22 million of those involving Black babies being murdered in the womb.
    
    This number continues to tick forward.  Let us hope that the day will come when the counter will stop ticking, and the lives of the unborn become important for everyone in this nation to support and nurture.  Meanwhile, don't be fooled. You may not see the snares, but they are there--and are quite real.
