Today so much emphasis has been placed on the Word of God and this is the True Need of the Moment!
The very first line in the Gospel of John tells us, “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. The Word became flesh and lived amongst us.’
Have we ever thought of it in this way when we read, listen or ponder on the Word of God?
I came across a very remarkable video shared by a friend and not just an eye opener but a heart opener as well.
The video reveals on how when we read the Word, we are touching the Flesh of Jesus himself.
It goes on to say that in times of trials to just place your hand on the Bible or on any passage in the Bible and say,
“Lord Jesus, I am touching your flesh and your love is flowing through me.”
This flowing love of God is sure to heal us, save us and protect us.
Having tried this myself in urgent needs, I can vouch for the efficacy of this prayer.
We read in Hebrews 4:12, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
Truly even if we over-estimate the power of the Word, God will prove that the Word of God is beyond our expectations and estimations.
Infinite and packed with Divine grace for each and every one of us to inhabit in.
The Eucharist comprises of two parts.
The Liturgy and the Eucharist
In both we are receiving the Word of God.
In Communion, we touch and eat the Body of Christ and we can say the Prayer in this instance as well.
The greatest contact between God and Man is in the Communion and the Bible.
Both are more than enough to sustain us in our life here and safely guarantee a packaged trip of Soulful delights to cruise us to Heaven.
Of course, we have to also follow, obey and put into practice the Word of God as taught by Jesus in the New Testament and related to the Prophets in the Old Testament.
In this day and age, with Enthronements of the Word of God being done in our Churches, Homes and Communities, we are giving the rightful place and importance to the Presence of Jesus contained in the Word. A One on One basis with God himself!
A profound verse in Psalms 147: 3, “ He heals the broken hearted and bandages up their wounds.” Can be related to a really heart tearing story which I had watched recently on how a man and a woman who loved each other with a soul deep love was not allowed to fulfil their love on account of the disapproval of their families. Years later, the woman meets with a terrible accident and is brought to the same hospital where the man is now an eminent surgeon.
He is shocked on seeing her and cannot control his emotions. He sets at once on performing all the necessary surgeries to save her life. Sitting by her bedside, he takes recourse in the past and all the beautiful hours they had spent together. The lady comes in and out of consciousness during this time and on seeing the man in front of her, she too cannot control herself and reaches out for his hand.
Both have tears in their eyes and heart. The unforgotten love that was being carried in their souls shone to the forefront.
The lady soon recovers with his love and care.
The ending of the story shows on how they both are committed to their respective partners at present but still cannot get over the love that is being shared by them.
The sapling that could not grow into a tree, the flower that though it blossomed in their heart could not do so under the sun.
As they both turn to depart with their families in opposite directions but wishing and visualizing in their hearts that they could break free and run into each other’s arms but have to contain themselves.
The man's thought is spoken out loud on how the pain will continue.
One would wonder how these two are going to go on in life with such a deep pain of un-fulfilled love and the answer lies in the Grace of God.
It is only God who can sustain them, hold their remembrances and heal their pain.
For he alone heals the broken hearted and binds their wounds.
The Word spoken out loud and the Word unspoken.
We need to speak the Word of God loud and clear, the unspoken word is the message that God has hidden in his Word. The interpretation of which is so much necessary for us.
As we read in Psalms 16:7-8; “I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. I keep my eyes always on the Lord.”
Sometimes in the stillness of the night, in the midst of a deep slumber, in the joy of our dreams, the longings of our heart are fulfilled. The Lord gives us that beatific vision to hear, feel and see the things that the morning light cannot grant us.
May we always turn to the Word of God for guidance, counsel, healing, love, grace and protection.
